Birds in my garden IV.....

I mean honestly.....where else in the world would you get a Kookaburra (Kookaburra) sitting quietly on your fence regarding you hanging out the washing. You can tell it's a windy day,  his 'coif' is blowing up in the breeze, he was a very sweet little fella and I felt quite privileged that he felt safe enough to sit there for ages while I  snapped away! Hope you have a great 'hair day'.....!! p.s. 36C here in Perth today phew! that's way too hot.....

  4. Excellent, Grace. This is not a bird we see in America. It is a treat to see your very docile bird.

My trip is on the Rhine. There might be some canals, but I don't know the details yet.

  5. I don't think that I have ever seen a pic of one before although I do know that they sit in the "old gum tree".

  8. "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree". I learned that song in girl scouts oh so many years ago. What a treat to see such wonderful birds and to have them enjoying your back yard while you photograph them for all of us to see. Fantastic shots.

  17. Great shot. In grade school, we sang a song about the kookaburra sitting in a gum tree or something like that. Nice of him to pose for you.

  21. Nice hairdo! :-) Cute little fellow. Reminds me of how a robin invariably comes to sit on Mum's garden fence when someone is gardening.

  25. Oh, it's a lovely bird. Every day in the morning on the balcony of my apartment there are two birds that sing for several minutes. I really enjoyed the photos because I love birds.

  30. Hi & Greetings from India.Chanced upon your blog and the delightful post on the Kookaburra. Sensational pic. What a cute quaint & patient little bird. Looks like he is waiting for some one - his mate? Thanks for sharing.Aren't they terrestrial kingfishers native to Australia. And I have a question - Why are Kookaburra cricket bats so called? Have a great day.
