Northbridge, a walk on the wild side.. I

No, not really wild but definitely more colourful than city smart! The good thing is that when the Perth City Link Project is complete, and it almost is now, the city and Norhbridge will blend and hopefully some areas in Northbridge will get the facelift they need to bring them successfully into the fold.. Above and below.. just over the Horseshoe Bridge from the city to the Northbridge side of William St.

Below, Lucky Chan's Laundry + Noodle Bar.. so worth a look at this link to see how 'crowd funding' works and also a really super short video showing just how cool Perth is these days.. you'll enjoy it I promise :)

Remember the Barnaby cockatoo mural...

Below the Perth Mosque.. click the link to learn more and take a peek inside..

Kebabs, Asian, Mexican, Greek.. whatever nosh takes your fancy..

'Nexus' a sculpture by Simon Gauntlet to acknowledge and celebrate the Greek community in Northbridge..

Last shot for this time.. The Library Nightclub.. overdue books, I don't think so :) Are you feeling the multi-cultural vibe of Northbridge yet? End of week again and it's definitely a TGIF from me, I tripped and fell yesterday dislocating my toe.. was pretty ouchy I don't mind telling you :) Many thanks to nurse Hazel (sister in law) for coming to the rescue with ice and bandages. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...p.s. it's normally so much busier, I took these very early in the morning..

I like that mural in the background in the first shot, and the colours of the buildings in the third shot.

  7. First of all, I'm so sorry about your toe!! Hope it gets better quickly -- hard to go picture-taking with a sore toe!! And I do love your colorful, fun shots for the day! I, too, love walking around places like this! Your photos are the next best thing to being there myself! Hope you have a great weekend!!

  9. I love the architecture in the 2nd and 3rd photos. Reminds me of my hometown, Pasadena, California. Hope that toe is better very soon!

  10. Okay, you've duly impressed me again with the fantastic city that is Perth! Wow, so many great things, whimsical and fun art, great food places, super colors, and a real melting pot of people. Hard to beat that!

  11. Je kan er van zeggen wat je wilt, maar kleurrijk is het in ieder geval.

  14. The whole area looks like it could be plunked down here and would fit right in! It is definitely my kind of place, Grace. I bet there are artist studios sprinkled about this part of town.

  15. I had to laugh. Here in D.C. "Grab-n-go" means something else entirely. :-)

  17. Interesting collection of photos Grace. I like seeing the old storefronts. Some of them look similar to ones we have here. I hope you are on the mend soon! Be careful. You sound like me falling down like that!

  18. Laundry + noodle bar is a good idea. We have a few laundry + just a bar, which isn't bad either. The area doesn't look like it needs much of a facelift but yours is a very young city, even compared to us.

  19. Grace, it looks like a most interesting and kind of funky place. Laundry and noodle bar? We hardly ever run into those! (Sorry for the battered toe . . . but, we can't keep a good girl down!)

  22. Northbridge must be like our St Kilda. Good to hear you fell and did not take a fall. Shall it make it difficult to get your toe nail paint right?

  23. It looks "funky" and just the sort of area I'd like to spend some time in, although not perhaps live in. Does that make sense? Sorry to hear about the toe... sounds painful! A glass of something for the patient I think.

  24. A very interesting part of town I like it. I swear (well not often) , that in south Texas I saw a sign for an ice house (bar) and shooting range. I think it is a bit safer there to dine on noodles while doing laundry!

  25. Such a nice tour around in your city, you shows us a lot. Be careful with falling, I did in Ireland on my both knees flat on the street. It is one of the things to remind you you are getting older and not a hopping youngster anymore....

  26. So sorry you hurt your toe. I think that will slow you down for a bit.

Perth looks like a very exciting city to me. I would love to spend time there. But, truth be told, there's so much of Toronto I should investigate as well. So much to do and see and so little time!!
