Manna from heaven..

When I got out of the car yesterday afternoon to take the above shot the wind was so strong that it took my breath away for a few seconds.. and then there was the skirt incident, thankfully everyone in their right mind was indoors :) I'm always amazed by the tenacity of wind surfers in extreme weather conditions, they fly along at thrillingly scary speeds, I guess that's the buzz. No-one is complaining about the rain as our dams, if you look at the graph here are at an all time low.. 2009 was a good year. Unless we get a lot more manna from heaven a summer of even heavier water restrictions is on the way.. Hopefully the sun is shining in the Northern Hemisphere, happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

  1. I'm surprised with so much rain this winter that the dams are still at such low levels.
Great photos, love the black and white one that portray well today's grey skies.

  2. Just think of the rain as the love of your many friends embracing you all around!

  5. Great shots for the day, as always, Grace!! The heat wave that really overwhelmed me here in Portland over the last week has finally departed and we're back to a delightful, comfortable August!! Earlier this month it was like living in Texas again and all of us here were SO hoping for a return of that regular Portland August!! And Hooray!! It's here! Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!!

  6. Love the waves! An angry sea is wonderful to look at, but perhaps not be on. Congratulations on getting some rain.

  7. We have had a cloudy Saturday morning but the sun is coming out now and it is to go up to 25˚C so that is a perfect summer day in my book! Hope you get some more rain, Grace - maybe during the night! ;-)

  8. Windsurfers are just plain mental!

The first picture makes me wish I was there! I miss the sea.
The second is great in B&W!

  9. It's overcast here but tomorrow promises to be sunny and bright. Hope you get some more of the rain you need as water restrictions are not fun!

  10. It's raining here--like cats and dogs raining. I went out to the beach early, early this morning before the rains came. Since then it's been monsoon season. Hoping for a break mid-afternoon. :-)

  12. 33°C and clear blue sky here... Some rain and wind would be welcome!

  13. Yep, 27 C and sunny today in the UK - no fear of a drought either!

  14. May you have lots of winter rain (and have a thought for those of us who would like to smell some sea air!!!)

  15. A skirt incident. How embarrassment. Our unused desalination plant is said to be too large. It seems yours is too small if you are going to have harsh restrictions.

  16. So pleased you are getting rain at last, in the nicest possible way 'long may it continue' .....skirt incident!

  17. If there is a skirt incident in the middle of the forest and there is no one around to observe it, did the skirt incident occur?

  19. It is the world up side down indeed . We have the most wonderful sunny weather here at the moment. When I see your rainy photos, makes me sad, I always get a little depressed by long rain periods. But for nature it is better to have some real showers so now and then. Exciting to have a "Marilyn Monroe" moment with your skirt isn't it? I saw even Camilla, wife of Prince Charles had one at the christening of the new princess!

  22. Looks a bit like my area this.
Keep warm, enjoy books, music, art and friends ( or the other way around.)
I always like images of coastlines, so thank you for sharing this.

  26. That's a mighty strong wind, I'd stay safely on shore! Your second rainy photo, is very inviting, lovely capture. Maybe it's the black and white effect, at any rate, it's beautiful.
